DIM-Plus

DIM Plus is a patented, highly-absorbable form of the amazing compound di-indolemethane, more commonly known by its abbreviation, DIMS DIM is a nutrient extracted from certain vegetables like broccoli and cabbage, but that's not what's exciting about it. As you may be aware, an increasing amount of attention is being given to the harmful role estrogens (and estrogen-mimicking compounds) play in human health, both in men and women. In men, excess estrogen activity interferes with healthy testosterone activity and promotes unhealthy changes in prostate health. In women, excess estrogens can make for a miserable menstrual cycle and great difficulty losing weight. Besides actual hormonal estrogens produced by the body, estrogens are present in some foods like dairy, and a great many environmental toxins such as plastic residues also have powerful estrogenic properties.
Estrogen hormones and estrogenic environmental toxins all share the same detoxification pathway in the liver. The exciting thing about DIM is that its able to affect the liver enzymes responsible for the detoxification of estrogens and estrogenic toxins in a way that increase their rate of elimination. So DIM is one of the most legitimate anti-estrogen supplements available, but since it's not absorbed well, use a the patented DIM Plus from Nature's Way which is an absorption-enhanced DIM preparation.

DIM-Plus Description from NATURE'S WAY

DIM-plus contains diindolylmethane, a phytonutrient found in cruciferous vegetables including broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower and kale. Unlike other plant nutrients such as soy isoflavones, diindolylmethane has unique hormonal benefits. It supports the activity of enzymes that improve estrogen metabolism.

Flora – Flax Oil

Oil pressed from flax is incredibly rich in both omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids, if it is freshly pressed and unrefined. These two EFAs are important for supporting the immune system, good digestion,  healthy brain function, soft and smooth skin and good circulation.*
Because of this flax oil's superior nutritional make-up, we recommend it always be used unheated. Flora’s fresh-pressed flax oil is perishable and should be kept refrigerated at all times. The pressing and expiry dates are stamped on each bottle to ensure freshness. The shelf life is six months refrigerated, or one year frozen.
Flora Flax Oil contains: 57% polyunsaturated ALA, or Alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3), 21% monounsaturated Oleic acid (omega-9), 14% polyunsaturated Linoleic acid (omega-6).
ASSISTS WITH:
  • Good nutrition
  • Providing Essential Fatty Acids
Flora Oils are truly cold-pressed, unrefined and unmodified. Most seeds used in our oils are grown organically by Canadian and U.S. farmers and are selected for their high quality and abundance of Essential Fatty Acids, EFAs.
EFAs such as omega-3s and omega-6s are needed by our bodies, but the body cannot make them on its own. They must be obtained from dietary sources. Using only the finest ingredients, Flora is proud to support your healthy lifestyle with a full line of Pure Premium Oils.
The quality of our oils is ensured by a third party certifying agency, Quality Assurance International (QAI). Unlike other commercially produced oils, Flora Oils are pressed in a light- and oxygen-free environment on highly sophisticated presses, where friction heat is kept well below 118˚F (50˚C) to produce truly cold-pressed oils that preserve the fragile EFAs.
These oils are then bottled in non-reactive dark brown glass bottles to prevent deterioration from light, and are stamped for freshness. As an additional protective measure, we use a nitrogen flush to ensure oxidation cannot occur, and that top quality is maintained.
Made with care and the utmost attention to detail, Flora Oils retain their authentic color, delicate flavor and primary nutritional characteristics. Providing valuable essential fatty acids from natural sources, these healthful, Pure Premium Oils complement a wide variety of nutritious meals.

Citrus Bioflavonoids

“Bioflavonoids” is a much-used buzzword in the world of supplements, and rightfully so. These natural pigments give plants their bright colours and are truly bursting with health benefits.
Hundreds of bioflavonoids have been identified, all with their complete therapeutic effects. Some examples include citrus bioflavonoids, soy isoflavones, proanthocyanidins (found in red wine and grape seed), flavanols (present in cocoa, tea, and grape seed), and quercitin (found in onions, tea, and berries).
As a group, bioflavonoids share similarities in their anti-inflammatory, antiaging, and antioxidant effects, but many also possess health benefits beyond these protective measures as they have been shown to be anticancer and to promote circulatory wellness.
Bioflavonoids work with other antioxidants, especially vitamin C, to improve their health promoting effects and cellular protection. Diets high in bioflavonoids are associated with lower incidences of osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, and heart disease. Knowing this, our national health organizations advocate ten to twelve servings of fruits and vegetables daily.

Ease Allergies
Although onions cause our eyes to water, they contain an ingredient that is useful in treating watery or itchy eyes, asthma, and hay fever. Quercitin, the bioflavonoid found in onions, is an effective inhibitor of histamine release from mast cells, the cause of allergic reactions. Also, acting as a natural antiviral compound, quercitin can help to prevent herpes outbreaks and the common cold.
Improve Hormonal Balance
Soy contains many types of isoflavones, but the most beneficial are genistein and daidzein. The highest amounts of isoflavones are found in soy nuts and tempeh. Isoflavones are currently the subject of intense research because of their effects on hormone-related disorders such as breast and prostate cancers.
The chemical structure of isoflavones is very similar to that of our own estrogen. Because of this similarity in structure, isoflavones can influence the action of estrogen. Sometimes the effect of estrogen may be reduced because of competition with the estrogen receptor sites on our cells.
In this manner, some of the risks of excess estrogen may be lowered, but isoflavones may also be helpful during menopause as the body’s natural level of estrogen drops. Although studies are inconsistent, isoflavones have been shown to compensate for estrogen deficiency by binding to some estrogen receptor sites, thereby potentially easing menopause symptoms.
Vein Health
Citrus bioflavonoids, rutin and hesperidin, are part of a group that function synergistically with vitamin C to maintain healthy capillaries, encourage wound healing via the formation of collagen in connective tissue, and support a healthy immune system.
Clinical testing has proven the benefits of citrus bioflavonoids in treating diseases of the blood vessels and lymph system, including hemorrhoids, chronic venous insufficiency, leg ulcers, easy bruising, nosebleeds, and lymphedema following breast cancer surgery.
Cardiovascular Health
Proanthocyanidins, present in grapeseed extract and red wine, have beneficial effects on the circulatory system and may offer protection against stroke, high cholesterol, and heart disease. The circulatory effects also aid eye health, the skin, and the aging process overall.
